My Lip Stuff Natural Lip Balms - FAQS

HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS):

Are My Lip Stuff products all natural?
yes! My Lip Stuff products are all natural!
Most of our ingredients are naturally occuring from the earth. A few of our flavors have been fabricated (because you can't squeeze flavor from a piece of cake!) but they are all made using natural ingredients! (no chemicals!)

What are the ingredients of your lip balms?
Our regular My Lip Stuff formula ingredients are: Beeswax, cocoa butter, castor oil, sunflower oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, aloe vera, essential and/or flavor oil. Some of our "variations" like the lip tint, lickity lips, for men, etc.. are a slightly different recipe and the changes are usually stated in the product description.

What is the shelf life of My Lip Stuff & Other Stuff?
My Lip Stuff & Other Stuff are natural products, and therefore we try to stay away from using harsh chemicals to preserve our products. Each product's shelf life varies; here are the basics: My Lip Stuff/Lip Tint/For Men/Glitter Stick/Body Butter/Gloss= Approximately 1 year. My Smelly Stuff/Bath Salts/Crystal Potpourri= Up to 1 year. Whipped Body Butter/Salt Scrubs= 6-10 weeks possibly longer depending on refrigeration and essential oil blend.

FYI: regarding ALL cosmetics on the market (not just our products):
There is no "official" shelf life of cosmetics according to the FDA, however they recommend using the following shelf life guidelines for your safety & to throw away your cosmetics after this period of time due to potential baterial growth (especially for products exposed to the eye & mouth): any liquid EYE products (including mascara): 3 months...... creams/lotions/creamy products/foundations: 6 - 18 months...... lip products: 1-2 years...... powders/powder products/pressed powders (eye shadows, blush, etc...): 2 years.

Is there anything I can do to increase the shelf life?
Sure. If you store your balms in a cool dry place they will definitely last longer than if they are exposed to extreme or greatly varying temperatures. You can even put them in the refrigerator- as long as they are sealed in a moisture proof container.

Are My Lip Stuff products safe for sensitive skin?
My Lip Stuff products are made from all natural ingredients which are considered to be skin safe. Therefore My Lip Stuff should be safe for all to use. Occassionally someone may have an allergy to an ingredient (such as avocado oil or orange oil). If you experience any abnormal symptoms we recommend you discontinue use immediately.

I'm allergic to peanuts/apples/oranges/etc... Can I use your like flavored products?
If you have an allergy to a flavor or ingredient we use, we DO NOT recommend using that specific product. If you experience any abnormal symptoms we recommend you discontinue use immediately.

Does My Lip Stuff use sweeteners in their lip balms?
Some of our lip balms contain Stevia a natural sweetener (0 calories!). Use the search function at our online store to find our sweetened lip balms.

Do My Lip Stuff lip balms taste like they smell?
It's actually impossible for a lip balm (or anything else for that matter) to taste exactly like what it smells. We "taste" using our tastebuds. Tastebuds can actually only detect a few different "tastes": sweet, sour, bitter, salty, & savory. The rest of what we "taste" is made up of what we are actually SMELLING. Therefore apple pie doesn't really taste like apple pie- it tastes sweet and that mixed with the smell we recognize as apple pie makes up what we think we are tasting. Just think about holding your nose to eat something that you think tastes aweful, holding your nose makes it edible because it is reducing the smell and therefore most of what makes up the taste. It's all too scientific!
With all that said, if you are looking for "tasty" balms, check out our stevia sweetened balms! They are yummy!

What do My Lip Stuff's Lip Balms feel like on my lips? Are they waxy or greasy?
My Lip Stuff lip balms are the perfect moisturizing balm! They are not waxy at all. They are very buttery and slippery on your lips and give a very nice shine (when applied liberally) similar to a gloss. The formula is original and unlike any balm you've ever tried. You're going to love the feel of My Lip Stuff! & your lips are going to love them too!

Do My Lip Stuff lip balms contain petroleum jelly or mineral oils?
Absolutely not! My Lip Stuff lip balms are natural and safe for your lips! Petroleum jelly and mineral oil are both byproducts of refining oil and gasoline, both are major chemicals that we don't want on our lips! My Lip Stuff uses only natural ingredients in our products. Natural, skin loving butters and oils that leave our lips soft and HEALTHY!

Does My Lip Stuff use SPF in their lip balms?
We offer 1 product we call a "SUNBRELLA STICK", it is safe for use all over, including lips. It can be found in the "fun in the sun" section of the online store. The sunbrella stick is a fabulous Body Butter Stick with a combination of butters & oils which are known for their skin protecting abilities! This combination of natural butters and oils are thought to provide a barrier against the suns harmful rays. In order for a product to be considered a "sunscreen" it must be labeled as an over the counter drug and undergo numerous lab tests to ensure the proper "SPF". Our stick is natural and has been handmade after studying the effects & properties of numerous butters and oils, no lab tests have been performed so our stick remains a natural product and is not an OTC. We can make no promises as to the exact SPF of this product. Ingredients of the Sunbrella Stick: beeswax, red raspberry oil, hemp seed oil, shea oil, mango butter, cocoa butter, castor oil, avocado oil, titanium dioxide, jojoba oil, & aloe vera.

FYI: more about cosmetics versus over the counter drugs (directly quoted from an easy to read article at the FDA website):
"The Fine Line Between Cosmetics and Drugs
The FD&C Act defines cosmetics as articles intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body's structure or functions. This definition includes skin-care creams, lotions, powders and sprays, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail polishes, eye and facial makeup, permanent waves, hair colors, deodorants, baby products, bath oils, bubble baths, and mouthwashes, as well as any material intended for use as a component of a cosmetic product. Products that intend to treat or prevent disease, or otherwise affect structure or function of the human body are considered drugs. Cosmetics that make therapeutic claims are regulated as drugs and cosmetics, and must meet the labeling requirements for both. Examples of products that are both cosmetics and drugs are dandruff shampoos, fluoride toothpastes, antiperspirant deodorants, and foundations and tanning preparations that contain sunscreen. Before products with both a cosmetic and drug classification can be marketed, they must be scientifically proven safe and effective for their therapeutic claims. If they are not, FDA considers them to be misbranded and can take regulatory action."

Are My Lip Stuff products tested on animals?
My Lip Stuff NEVER NEVER NEVER tests it's products on animals!

Does My Lip Stuff offer Vegan friendly- beeswax free products?
Yes. Although we are vegan and still use all our products, some vegans do not use beeswax. Here is a list of beeswax free products: Lip GLOSS, Tinted Lip GLOSS, Whipped Body Butter, Shave Cream, My Smelly Stuff (spray & crystals), Salt Scrubs, & Bath Salts.
& We now have 100% VEGAN (beeswax free) lip balms too!

What does My Lip Stuff do to help the environment?
We do as many things as we can! My Lip Stuff uses recycled materials whenever possible (& we also recycle whatever we can). We use "green power" (electricity supplied by renewable resources such as wind, solar, water, etc.. instead of oil) at our facilities. We also use only non-aerosol sprays!

Why aren't My Lip Stuff labels/containers flashier/more colorful?
2 reasons. 1)Colors cost money. In order to keep My Lip Stuff & Other Stuff prices low we use plain labels. This way you know you are paying for the product not the decorative labels or containers - we call it the "generic" label. 2) We offer custom label options -- you can get whatever you want on a label for a little extra! or If you want flashier labels check out our Fun Label Options!

Can My Lip Stuff personalize/customize any of their products?
YES! My Lip Stuff can personalize any of our products to meet your needs. We have created labels for many different occassions: Weddings, Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, Birthdays, Retirements, Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties, Anniversaries, and many more special occassions. We can also customize your favorite flavor or scent just for you.

Can I order samples?
Yes. My Lip Stuff offers samples of most of our products. Samples are available at the bottom of our online store for a reduced shipping cost. They are shipped in a padded envelope by regular first class mail (or air mail for international) and typically take 2-3 weeks to receive.

What is the difference between a SAMPLE tube and a REGULAR tube?
The shipping charge, thats it. Both samples and regular items are the same size & shape and have the same labels. The shipping is cheaper (& slower) on sample tubes GIVING CUSTOMERS AN OPTION WHEN THEY ONLY WANT TO TRY OUR PRODUCTS OR TO PURCHASE JUST A FEW TUBES (up to 9).

I don't want to pay for Priority Mail. Can I get reduced shipping?
Yes. Order a "sample". Sample products are the same as "regular" products. The SAMPLES are just an option for people who want VERY FEW ITEMS and don't want to pay full shipping. Samples are shipped regular mail or air mail and will take longer to receive.

How many "samples" can I order?
We ask that you limit your sample orders to 9 tubes of lip balm per order, in order to fit in the envelopes we stock- and in order to be cost effective and actually have a savings. You may order samples as many times as you like.

Can I purchase My Lip Stuff at a retail store in my area?
Probably not. My Lip Stuff is a growing company and therefore is only available at a few select retail locations worldwide.

If I'm in Lewes, DE - Can I stop by and shop at My Lip Stuff, or pick up my order?
Nope. Sorry to say but we are currently CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. We are a very small business, and use our location to produce product and fulfill orders. We can not allow any customers in our facilities. Having a retail location that is customer friendly is a large cost, which would have to be absorbed by raising the cost of our products. We like to keep our prices low & to do that we must remain a 100% online store, for the time being.

How are My Lip Stuff products shipped?
My Lip Stuff ships all orders through the United States Postal Service. Packages within the USA are shipped Priority Mail (2-3 days) with delivery confirmation. International orders are shipped Global Priority (4-7 days). Samples are shipped standard first class mail or Air Mail and can take 2-3 weeks to receive.

Does My Lip Stuff ship to MILITARY ADDRESSES, like APO,AE etc...?
YES! My Lip Stuff ships to Military addresses using Priority mail. Please enter you military address just like you would a USA address, type APO,FPO etc... as the city, AE,AA,AP etc... as the state, and select USA as the country.

Does My Lip Stuff ship to GUAM/PUERTO RICO/US VIRGIN ISLANDS/OTHER US PROTECTORATES?
YES! My Lip Stuff ships Everywhere! These US Protectorates: Guam, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, & Palua- are all accepted as USA locations by the US postal service- therefore we can charge USA shipping for these locations (not International).

Does My Lip Stuff ship to Canada?
YES! My Lip Stuff ships to Canada using Global Priority.

Does My Lip Stuff ship Internationally?
Yes! We do ship internationally.

How are shipping charges determined?
My Lip Stuff charges shipping fees in increments based on the weight of the products. Samples are shipped regular mail or air mail for a small fee. Regular orders are shipped priority with rates starting around $6 in the USA, and about $13 International.

How long does it take to receive my order?
My Lip Stuff generally processes all orders within 24-48 hours and ships by Priority mail (within the USA), therefore you should receive your package within 5-7 business days (within the USA). International orders can take up to 2 weeks to receive due to slow shipping speeds!

I never received my order, it was lost in the mail/stolen from my mailbox. Can you refund my money/replace my order for free?
Nope. Sorry. BUT Rest assured we make every effort to get your orders to you quickly and SAFELY. However, if something crazy happens and your package is lost/stolen in transit we are not responsible for (or required to replace) the order. We recommend you purchase all items using regular orders (NOT samples). Regular orders come with at least some type of tracking abilities, and larger orders are insured. Therefore if you don't receive your package, we at least have the ability to help in trying to locate it. Samples are not trackable and not insured- and in our experience seem to be lost more often in transit. So if you order samples, and they are lost, there is unfortunately nothing we can do to help.

I don't like the flavor I picked-- Can I return it/exchange it/get a refund?
Nope. Sorry. All sales are final- we CAN NOT accept any returns due to sanitary reasons.

You say you love animals, do you have any of your own?

Are you single?
Yep. If you'd like to apply for this position please email your pic, bio, & references... hahah

You say you are Vegan, but you still use Beeswax. How do you feel about the whole vegan & beeswax thing?
well, just like with anything- everyone is going to have different views on the same topics. Like vegetarians that still eat chicken, or fish-- just not red meat.
I feel that it's all a matter of personal opinion. & I am definitely not a "preacher" but this is MY personal opinion -
There are some diehard vegans that don't even eat anything with sugar, and those are typically the ones that don't use beeswax products. There is nothing wrong with that, it is their personal choice. I don't like to make categories of "definites" in my life. Like you are only a vegan if a) b) c). I think that veganism is a way of life and a personal view on animals and cruelty to them. & any form of veganism, or even vegetarianism is a step in the right direction. For me, I do not use any products that animals are harmed in the making of said product. Beeswax is a natural product, as is honey, that bees will naturally produce and we don't have to kill, harm, cage, or force them to produce it. They do it naturally. They go about their normal life and the wax and honey is simply harvested from their living area. I do not eat any type of meat, eggs, dairy or use any products such as leather, or fur. Those are all products that the animal is typically killed, forced to live in inhumane conditions and even tortured for. Now I don't consume dairy products either- and I know someone will surely say "but you don't kill cows for the milk". First of all- the facilities that the cows are kept in- in order to get the milk from is completely disgusting. The calves are starved of their mothers milk in order to give milk to humans. The whole process is just wrong. & second- I think dairy is unhealthy for everyone, and especially for me. I am allergic to it, and since giving up all dairy products way back in 1995 I have never been sick at all. Not 1 cold. So dairy was definitely holding me down. & to add to the milk is disgusting thing, I watched an episode of MythBusters that was actually about an irrelevant topic, but they had to leave out a glass of milk for a period of a few days. The milk was covered. When they removed the cover, and you looked really hard at the milk, you could SEE organisms moving, small worm like things. It was sooooo disgusting. In fact the guy that was doing the test was so grossed out at the fact that those things were in the milk the whole time- and just waiting to grow when the temperature and circumstances were right - he said he'd never drink milk again.

I don't understand the whole no animal testing or choose vegetarian/vegan thing? Do you have more info about these topics?
Of course. Here are some pretty graphically eye opening videos...
